Development of Next Generation Fuel efficient Clean Diesel engine with Industry’s Fastest Restart Time

Mazda has announced the development of a new 2.2-liter clean diesel engine which will be incorporated in the new Mazda CX-5 crossover SUV expected to be released in spring of 2012. This is the first diesel engine to pass Japan’s New Long-Term Emission Regulations without the need for expensive nitrogen oxide (NOx) after treatment technology. The new engine delivers a maximum torque of 420Nm, which is more than some of the 4.0-liter V6 gasoline type engine vehicles, while offering a superb fuel economy of 18.6km/L. 
The new SKYACTIV-D 2.2 engine incorporates Mazda new idling stop system, i-stope, bringing the ability of restart the engine in a single start cycle through careful positioning of the piston as the engine stops, achieving 0.4 seconds engine restart time, world’s fastest.

Halo Intersceptor Car Concept Can Morph Into A Boat, Helicopter, And A Jet

The Halo Intersceptor is an astonishing project consisting in a 311-mile-per-hour concept car that can transform into a jet, a helicopter, or a boat. This awesome concept comes from U.K. concept designer Philip Pauley and it makes Batman’s car look like an Olds Mobile. So we got a base component, the car cockpit ( the Intersceptor ), which is a four seater ‘USB stick’ that is designed to be greater that any other private vehicle on earth. It can achieve 2.3 seconds from 0 to 60 and has a range of 700 miles. From this point you can attach, by your desire, one of three Halo attachments. The Halo 120 will transform this vehicle into a private jet that can climb 25,890 feet a minute and has the martial good looks of a Tomcat. On the other side, the Halo 46 is a helicopter that can carry two pilots and two passengers. Last, but not least, the Halo 22 is a 36-foot-long boat with an engine you can throttle up to 63 knots. Stunning Red Nuclear Energy Concept Car

Now here is a concept car that can’t pass unnoticed. I think it may resemble to a red lightning! It was inspired by a $50,000 hand-made vehicle named Ariel Atom and this product goes by the name of “A Real Atom”. The designer of this car is Imran Othman and he managed to make a very impressive vehicle. Of course this is no more than a concept because for what we can get from the image a car of this kind will have some flops in its design. A REAL ATOM The project tries to be the 1st nuclear car in the world and the red color only gives a little more for the cause. The render was made very well so you can notice in the pictures bellow even the slightest detail of the vehicle. And of course don’t know if the designer thought of that but I think nuclear energy will give an unprecedented speed, one that will need better infrastructure for it to be a reliable transportation method.
